I see all this hate in the Angel Salvadore tag.
No. No. Get out. She was not pointless, she was not stupid, she certainly wasn’t unjustified in taking Shaw’s side. She had to make a hard decision and took the one that she thought would save her. She’s been verbally and probably physically abused…
Thank you at least someone said it. Angel is actually one of my favorite characters (along with Emma Frost) not only in the movie but in Marvel comics and movies as a whole. And maybe it because I know so much about her that I can see what they were actually trying to do. Even if in the comics she wasn’t aligned directly with the Hellfire Club (same as Janos/Riptide and Azazel) she was aligned with Emma Frost and Magneto when she was on the comics (though Magneto was currently in disguise as Xorn before he revealed himself to Angel). Emma Frost and Magneto were two character that actually inspired Angel to become a superhero because before that at the Institute, Angel kept pretty much to herself, and disdained the other “pretty” mutants which simply they did show in the movie in both her and Raven. Though she is by no means ugly, Angel sees her mutation as an affliction, and claims that she would have her wings removed if she could afford it but when Xorn/Magneto became her teacher and she was placed into the “Special Class” she learned to love herself and others such as her Birdman, Beak.
Also when Angel learned to love herself she was taken under the diamond stubbed cloak of Emma Frost and bonded the together. Something that I hope will be in the next movies. Anyways, I think Angel was portrayed perfectly even more then I thought she could be and that her leave with the Brotherhood was even more truer to her own story even anyone else in within the movie. The reason is because when “Xorn” revealed himself to be Magneto, Angel joined his new Brotherhood because she thought she could help change the world and help mutants. However, when Beak, her future husband, refused to comply with Magneto’s plans for human extermination and was beaten, Angel ties were then severed from Magneto when she realized the danger that Erik was to not only himself but both mutant and humankind and she then helped the X-Men defeat him and becoming the heroine she was become in the comics. I think this want she is headed to in the next movies. Maybe someone will disagree with Magneto and Angel will be that saving grace within the movie and become a X-Woman.
Lastly, people say Angel caused Darwin to die and that they wished she had been the one to die. Well tough luck because she didn’t and I don’t think Darwin/Armando did either and this is because if anyone of the people who say this actually understood Darwin’s mutant they would understand that Darwin is either a (A) immortal or (B) near immortal. As a byproduct of Darwin’s continuous evolution, he may in fact be immortal. He can survive indefinitely in harsh conditions and/or without water or nutriment. Darwin even survived the death touch of Hela. Darwin powers more than likely absorbed the energy produced by Sebastien and as a way to expel the energy he conduced myself into that metal/rock form and then exploded to release it and during that process this mutation probably more then likely took a defensive stance and teleported or removed from the area. How far I don’t know. What I do know is that his mutant is as he stated is “adapt to survive” and I so think he survived because his power and body concerns itself with more efficient methods of survival than Darwin himself might choose; for example, instead of continually increasing Darwin’s powers when taking punishment from the Hulk, his body simply teleported him away from the fight to survive.
In conclusion I don’t think we actually saw everything that the produces, director, and writers wanted us to see and that we need to leave are minds open to want could happen in the next movie(s) and to remember that this is a movie and even more so that its a different ‘reality’ then the one in the comics and time is flowing different here. And lastly, it’s a fact Angel was boss and kicked ass.
